As slate is a natural product the colour and shape may vary slightly between pieces. Each piece of slate may also have ridges and indents and contain Pyrite or 'Fools Gold' as it is commonly known. Pyrite may give the slate a gold appearance in places. These natural occurrences are not a defect in the product and may affect how the slate engraves. The engraving mark left on the slate is the natural colour of the slate and the colour will not be highlighted or colour infilled.
